Exercising Choice as We Create Our Desires

One of the premier teachings of the Mystery School is that we have choice. Kabbalah expands on this saying that each person and event – everything in the world – is a touchstone to test your freedom of choice; so choose wisely!

There are so many places in our lives where we can apply this teaching about choice. I would like to point out first, when one believes that they have choice, they feel empowered. And I am the first to admit that we don’t always love the options presenting to choose between; but that does not mean that there is not a choice to be made! And if we procrastinate long enough, we soon discover that ‘no choice’ is a choice!

As we move through April though I want to bring our focus to what you want to create this year. You have heard the saying “what you focus on expands”. Because this is so true, it is vital that you become aware of what you are saying aloud, and even as important, what you are thinking in your brain. The challenge with our thinking is that the brain hears everything as ‘truth’, so it is up to you to be the ‘guardian at the threshold’ on what thoughts are being accumulated and repeated, because they will find manifestation in the physical realm of your life in some way.

As the guardian of what your brain is thinking, you become aware of what is (and has been) going on behind the scenes in your mind based on the results in your life. This awareness gives you both the ability to make new choices and the option for change. Until this moment of recognition, you do not have that option! One thing becomes very important here for this choice to be available to you: the negative ego must be in control – no projection onto others for what is happening in your life, no suppression, guilt, shame, etc.

And this is why every valid spiritual path recommends a practice of ritual, meditation and prayer to assist us in aligning our physical being with that of the creator. This alignment and regular practice helps us raise our frequency to a level that we will not attain on our own. Using these tools regularly, one can align with the creator and our life work/life purpose, experiencing joy and fulfillment.

Let’s talk now about your desires for this year. If you are like many people, you have already consciously set many of them in motion and may be seeing the new seedlings emerge. A great analogy is that you are the gardener and that the seeds you have planted with your thoughts and desires are developing.

A wise gardener will take time to recognize these new seedlings for what they are – did they come from conscious positive manifestation, or are they from an unconscious or unmanaged brain? And as the new plants emerge, the gardener has time to continue to formulate the plan for each seedling thereby ensuring its eventual success. At the same time, some seedlings may need to be removed, as they are no longer in alignment – again, this is all a part of you being at conscious choice. It may be as simple as you no longer put your time or focus in this area.

In other words, your mind may have been fertile with many good ideas that were planted, but now is not the time to jump on each new manifestation or seed that emerges. We don’t have to cultivate every result of the work that we have started. From the alignment gained in your meditation, ritual and prayer, you can continue to define with assurance that which is most in alignment. Nurture and care for this with love and dedication. You will have a bountiful harvest that is truly an expression of your Life Purpose.

I’d love to hear about how you are expressing conscious choice.

Sending you Love and Light,

The Nature of Light and Reclaiming our Crown

I have been contemplating the nature of Light and its role in our lives.  Of course, we want a good amount of sunny days – especially here in the Pacific Northwest.  But I am talking about the Source of Light.  In the Mystery School we call it the EnSof and it is described as everything and no thing – everywhere and nowhere – the Limitless Light.

This is the Light of Creation. Genesis refers to it: “… and God said ‘let there be light’”.  And with this, creation began.  From here we can infer that Light is at the Beginning – that it is the Source.

If we overlay teachings from Kabbalah, and the Tree of Life here, we find this Originating Light above the Tree itself – in Ain, An Soph, and Ain Soph Aur – 3 distinct egg-shaped ovals that surround the Sephiroth.  This Sourcing Light then floods into the top Sephirah on the Tree called Kether.  Kether translates as ‘the Crown.’

The Tree of Life is said to hold the original divine blueprint for humans.  So it can be said that at the beginning of our physicality we possess a Crown of Light!  And this elevated, illuminated, actualized way of being is what philosophers and spiritual seekers have been striving to attain throughout the centuries.

I find it interesting that when a baby is born through the birth canal, as its head appears, it is said to be crowning!  As the newborn takes its first breath, the soul enters, and each baby claims their crown of light!  In other words, we each begin life owning our personal crown of creation – we are alive with Light.

The question becomes what has happened to our crown?  Maybe even more important is what has happened to our self-esteem such that we don’t even know we have a crown?  And if it is true that we have a crown, when and where did we misplace it?

The Universal Kabbalah holds the treasure map and instruction manual that can be utilized to assist us in attaining the original divine blueprint and reclaiming our crown.  When we use Kabbalah for this purpose there are many benefits and gifts (Kabbalah calls them fruits), including remembering who we are, where we came from, and what we are here to do.  This gives the true seeker the clarity of purpose needed to wholeheartedly engage in fulfilling their Life Purpose and Destiny, which results in true JOY and FULFILLMENT.

I invite you to contact me for a deeper discussion on The Universal Kabbalah and if this might be helpful and illuminating for your life at this time.  A good place to begin might be the Tree of Joy 5-week series starting April 2.

Blooming Where You Find Yourself – A Key to Fulfilling Your Life Purpose

Blooming Where You Find Yourself – A Key to Fulfilling Your Life Purpose

Like the purple crocuses pictured above, we are each uniquely suited to bloom where we find ourselves.  Snowdrops and crocuses come up and bloom through the snow, where other flowers can’t.  There is an analogy here to each of us.  We can “bloom where we are planted” as the saying goes.   The key is that we need to consciously create our environment where we can flourish.

This brings to mind that we each have a Life Purpose – something that is exclusive to you, and it is up to you to manifest it.  Interestingly enough, only through the manifestation of your Life Work will you experience fulfillment and joy.  Everything else is unfulfilling, mundane, and short-lasting.

Living your life purpose does not mean that you will not have to work diligently – it means that in the process you will experience great momentum and motivation to do your work.

Many people find that one of the things that slows down their spiritual progression and effectiveness with their Life Work is inner child pain and issues that have not been addressed and healed.  A good indicator that some of this work remains unfinished for you is that you will find yourself hitting the same wall (or ceiling) and not making much progress past it.  It has been referred to as the comfort zone.  I call it the ‘lack of clarity’ zone.

When we are clear about what we want, what our desires are, what our patterns and behaviors are that stop us (including inner child wounding), we can fully engage in our Life Purpose work.  In other words, we can bloom where we find ourselves, and create an environment around us that ensures our ability to flourish.

Every class, activation, and session provided by the mystery school is focused on empowering you to fulfill your Life Purpose.  The Universal Kabbalah is particularly helpful in supporting you to flourish in your life. We have two Kabbalah Ascension Classes scheduled for Seattle in 2018 – one staring in March and the 2nd starting in September (which I am leading).  Let me know if there is a specific area you would like support.

I invite you to join me this spring in further creating an environment in which you can flourish and bloom where you are.  You probably can sense that it is time.  And even if you are doing well, there is always more – more fulfillment, more joy, more clarity, more of what is important to you.

Welcoming in the New Year – A Time for Rebirth and Renewal

Welcoming in the New Year – A Time for Rebirth and Renewal

When I was young, the image of the past year leaving was Father Time, old now and hopefully wise, bringing with him a lively, smiling Newborn, representing the New Year and all it can offer us.

I feel its important to remember that what happened last year, while it set a course, does not have to dictate what will transpire as we go forward.  It is instrumental that we set a vision (or goals) for the next year, (and our life) and that we don’t let these ideas become ruts that we get stuck in and create new limitations and excuses!

We are eternal spiritual beings having a physical experience.
•    What would you like to create in 2018?
•    How would you like to experience your creations?

These are important questions to consider, because each of us is part of actively creating our life and life situations.  If 2017 was really good and you want to sustain and create more – great – you already know what to do.  If 2017 left something to be desired, then ask yourself, what change do I desire? And what do I need to do to make this adjustment?

Take all the wisdom you have gained up to now (your Father Time) and give yourself a fresh new start – aligning fully with who you are and what you are here to accomplish this lifetime.  Let me know how I can support you to have the best 2018 possible.

Wishing you a wonderful New Year, where you create what you truly desire.

The Truth Sets You Free – Maat & Her Feather of Truth

The Truth Sets You Free – Maat & Her Feather of Truth

As we move into December, I am working with the Goddess Maat in preparation for the January 12, 2018 Egyptian Ceremony and Meditation.  What an amazing Goddess.  My understanding of the Egyptian Gods and Goddesses is that they each had a lifetime here in the physical – of course thousands and thousands of years ago.  Now each of them holds a specific archetype that relates to humans and can help us in our daily life.

The Goddess Maat represents truth and justice.  She embodies the true meaning and practice of integrity for the bigger picture, not just the here and now.  Her symbol is the ostrich feather, or any feather for that matter.  As I contemplate her feather, I feel a sense of lightness and freedom and I wonder what the connection is with truth, justice and integrity.

In the Egyptian tradition, is said that at the end of your life when you cross over, your heart is tested on scales for truthfulness against the feather of Maat.  Anubis, Thoth, and Tehuti (who records the proceedings) are all present.  Anubis asks you two questions: “Have you found joy in your life and have you brought joy to others?”  I love this story, and find it particularly meaningful this time of year.  Perhaps true, sustainable, and lasting joy in our lives and others is deeply related to living a life in integrity and truth.  Why not?  What could be more truthful than I am experiencing joy or I am not!  Something to think about….

But whose truth?  And who or what defines integrity?  The truth and integrity of Maat is defined as being Maaty!  It is said about Maat that we each have an inner Maat.  So then the answer to these two questions is based on your deep inner knowing in alignment with who you are and what you are here to do this lifetime.  Many people never get very far in contemplating these things.  I trust though if you are reading this newsletter, then this is a journey you are consciously on.

As we tell ourselves the truth, although it may be related to past pain and suffering, we do not need to bring that forward into the present, other than to heal.  It is important that we are not defined by our past and our wounding and in order for that to happen we have to forgive.  Our progress is limited though until we fully forgive – both ourselves and others – for what has transpired.  And, as we heal, the truth brings joy and “truly” sets us free.  We are no longer a victim of our past or anyone in it.  Maat is always there to help us see the truth from the bigger picture of our life and contracts, and to recognize and appreciate the gifts we have received.

This time of year is about celebrating joy, birth, life and our friends and families.  I hope you have a most wonderful Holiday Season.  Please join us Friday evening, January 12, if you are interested in a mediation ceremony celebrating the magick of Maat.

My Journey With Gratitude

My Journey With Gratitude

Hello to all my Friends,

This November appears to be ushering in the end of a perfect Northwest Fall – foggy mornings, followed by beautiful sunny warm days, more rain, colorful leaves everywhere, and even some snowflakes.

The late fall season is traditionally a time of completing the harvesting and gathering of food in preparation for winter.  As we move toward Thanksgiving, it traditionally marks a time of giving thanks for the fullness and good in our lives.  Whatever your method of conversing with the Creator/God/Goddess, I invite you to include expressions of thanks and gratitude. For me the ability to do this has been a journey that I would like to share with you in this newsletter.

The 12-Step Programs refer to the expression of gratitude as “an attitude of gratitude”, which is required for recovery.  And they place a special focus on this during the month of November.  In 1983 when I was first exposed to this system, I was unable to pray – the words got stuck in my throat and my mind resisted – and this had been true since my early teens.  Louise Hay was very influential in the ‘80’s and she readily encouraged positive affirmations as a pathway to healing and wellness.  Gratitude and positive self-talk made sense to me and as I combined the two, I was able to begin a meaningful conversation with my “Creator”, positively expressing everything I was grateful for in my life.  This marked the beginning of a significant change in my life from focusing on what was wrong and not working to being much more positive.  My glass was now half full instead of half empty.

After the years of silence with God/Goddess I soon created my own version of prayer.  This was enhanced by what I leaned from the Modern Mystery School, which teaches that communication with God has three aspects: ritual, prayer and meditation.  I started utilizing these in my daily spiritual practice and my connection and belief in Spirit soared to new levels. I refer to this as the 3-legged stool of a strong foundational spiritual practice.  Ritual, prayer and meditation provide a complete communication with Spirit/God that involves clarity achieved from asking, thanking, listening, and receiving.

Never has there been a time on the planet when individuals of good intention have more needed this connection and the strong foundation it creates in our lives, which in turn spreads to our families and communities.  Our belief in and unwavering connection with Spirit / God / Goddess / Source will provide the strength we all need now.  Please feel free to connect with me if you would like a 30-45-minute consultation about this – no charge.

November marks the time of seasonal gatherings of celebration taking us all the way to welcoming in the New Year.   Have a most wonderful November as you prepare for the next phase of the year.

Self-Worth, Empowerment and Serving Others

Self-Worth, Empowerment and Serving Others

Hi There,

I find myself being drawn into conversations more frequently with friends and associates about situations where they have provided a service for someone and experience not being paid and even criticized.

This is one of the hardest things I had to learn when I opened my doors for private practice. I was occasionally admonished for charging an equal energy exchange for something like the Life Activation. And at first, I was affected by people who did not want to pay the fee.  I ultimately learned that this had to do with my own internal sense of self-worth.  As I explored this, I puzzled over why the same person who did not resent paying for a massage, or acupuncture, or holistic medicine, or a tarot reading, would expect me to work for for free (or hardly nothing) because I was offering spiritual healing and empowerment!!

As I worked on myself and feeling good and firm about the prices I was charging, I learned two other very important things.  The first from Kabbalah regarding what is true mercy and what is true justice, and the second from another practitioner who was a Kabbalah student of mine, Jordan Bain, about flow and self-care.

When I was in Boston teaching Kabbalah a few years ago, Jordan facilitated and took the programs.  He had and has one of the most thriving and busiest healing practices in the western world doing Modern Mystery School work.  I asked him what his secret was to this success.  He shared simply that you cannot be in business doing healing work in the community unless you are receiving it from others – and that he received somewhere between 3 and 4 sessions a week on himself.  Not only did that return the flow to the community but it also helped him to keep his own cup full and he did not get drained.  So simple and yet so profound.

The other important thing that Kabbalah urges us to consider is what is true mercy and what is true justice.

  • We are all aware of justice gone awry – especially in view of the many difficult situations and decisions the very people who are here to protect us find themselves confronted with.  It is at the forefront of our news recently and will always need to be monitored.
  • Perhaps not as easy to spot though, and something we are not as aware of is well-intentioned mercy gone awry and the prices we pay for that.  When someone receives too much without an energy exchange they are robbed of the ability to build true empowerment and independence.  As well, they will ultimately resent the hand(s) that helped them. I personally believe that this is why Jesus demonstrated the importance of teaching someone how to fish for themselves instead of fishing for them.

The 3,500 year-old lineage of King Salomon is about true empowerment.  This lineage has always been about being an empowering partner on someone’s path to full health and wellness vs. being “the healer”.  Ultimately, only each of us can heal ourselves – it may take a team, but that team has to be about mentoring the healing vs. being “the healer”.  As well, this lineage stresses the importance that we each do our personal work in order to become fully empowered in our own lives.  This will result in our ability to fulfill our life destiny.  Part of fulfilling our destiny always includes service to others, and true service to others is about empowering and never about enabling.  It is often not easy to see the difference, either for ourselves or where others are concerned.  And know that the more personally empowered we each are, the healthier our communities and world will become.

In view of the immense losses in Texas, Florida, and the Caribbean, as well as what just happened this week in Las Vegas, I invite you to join me in sending healing prayers, love, and strength to everyone who has been affected.  The injured, the deceased, families, friends, first responders and their families, the entire hospital staffs who have kept them up and running – the list goes on and on and on.  As well to the deceased shooter and his family and friends.  I’m not sure this is something that we will ever understand.  The best thing to do is to find true forgiveness in our hearts.

Sending you Light & Love,

Respect for Gaia

Hi There,

September is ushering in hurricanes in Texas and now Florida, perhaps affecting the SE seaboard, (with the ensuing flooding), as well as forest fires on the west coast, Montana and Idaho; resulting in the loss of property, homes, and lives. When you think about it, hurricanes, floods, fires, etc. are all natural planetary events. In our civilization today we have multi-faceted challenges in working with nature, all related to how we are interacting with our Mother:

First, we as humans start many of the fires due to our lack of consciousness or inconsideration (a spark from an exhaust, a campfire not fully extinguished, fireworks used in a dry area, etc.) 100 years ago most forest fires were started by lightning.
Second, we are now so populated in many areas that once what was a natural event occurs, it can almost immediately threaten and affect homes and lives. Some of the most sought-out building sites on or near the ocean are often in the line of hurricane patterns; premier building sites on rivers are frequently within the 20-50 year flood plane; and buildings in many forested areas are now required to have a metal roof.

There’s not an easy solution. It important to remember that Gaia is a living, breathing being. Our ancestors knew and celebrated that their presence here was with her consent. It is clear to me that we have lost this understanding and respect as we became ‘civilized’. She has a natural ebb and flow – blizzards, spring thaws, monsoons, her rivers flood, her forests burn, her ocean has tsunamis, she produces volcanoes and earthquakes, she has hurricane and tornado seasons – all on her own. But with the influence of humans, she has increased droughts and irregular weather patterns. Her ice packs are melting at an alarming rate, her rivers are running dry, her waters are becoming polluted. At the same time she offers beauty beyond measure for all beings who live here and share her body.

What can we do? The solution is global. The answer is individual. We must take individual responsibility and be conscientious caretakers and participants in how we live on Gaia. In order to do that, we have to be conscious and aware of who we are and how we participate in our lives, both inner and outer. As we address and heal ourselves our outer world starts responding differently. Our inner affects our outer. We are able to make different decisions that affect health and wellness for both ourselves and our Mother.

I like to think that each of us on the planet is a cell in Gaia’s body. When enough of us have full health (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual), Gaia’s fullness, wealth and beauty will be realized again.

A Life of Empowerment

Hi There,

We have not published The Living Light Foundation Newsletter since February.  Much has transpired in my life and there are so many things I could say about that, but I wonder what, if any of it, is really relevant or important.  As some of you know, quality of life is very important to me.  So I took some time to address this as I was approaching my 66th year and wanted to prepare for this phase of my physical life.  As I gave myself the time to relax deeply and reset, what has transpired in the last 6 months is the next version of me as well as how I am showing up in the world and doing my lightwork.  I find that the changes are ongoing such that who I was last month, I am not this month!!!  I am welcoming and embracing this powerful transition.

While I was focusing on the quality of my life and health, our planet and the people on the planet have been literally crying out for change asking for:

  • a more supportive and safer place to live and raise our children,
  • respect for who we are, our beliefs, and lifestyles
  • and so much more.

So many people world-wide are just surviving, and struggle is a regular occurrence (whether mental, emotional, physical, or spiritual).  At the other end of the spectrum there are large numbers of individuals who have achieved their dreams, appear to be thriving, and yet they know something important is still missing (and this also represents a type of just surviving).

My life work for the past 25 years has been about empowering people and assisting them to identify and fully live the life they desire.  In order to be successful at this work, I have constantly been ‘encouraged’ spiritually to continue working on myself, embracing growth while releasing fears and stopping places.  In the last 12 months it feels like this self-work has become even more important for me as well as many of you who I know and love.

Everyone’s contribution is needed to bring in the New Paradigm, and the more integrated and whole you are, the more effective you will be.  As we know the individual (or microcosm) impacts the whole (or macrocosm); this basic truth being reflected with the cells of our body and throughout nature and the universe.  Let me know how I can support you on your journey and discover what the best approach is for you as you continue to move forward in actualizing the next phase of your life purpose.  We ALL deserve quality of life while we are here in the physical body.

Sending you Light & Love,
Verla and The Living Light Foundation

Time To Take A Leap Forward!

Time To Take A Leap Forward!

We are starting this New Year with a very powerful planetary alignment.  January 7 thru February 6  marks a rare astrological event – all the major planets will be moving forward (direct) at the same time.  The ancients saw this as a most opportune time and a time of great fortune!  And with so many people losing hope, it feels like this “planetary boost” is just in time!

When all the planets are in direct motion, this signifies an organic, holistic, synchronous, harmonious group passage through the endless universe.  This cycle (called APDM) is definitely one of hope for the future – both individually and for humanity as a whole.  The planets are doing their work in opening the doorway for the New Paradigm!

What this means to you and me is that during this time, we can each take a LEAP forwards, vs. the small steps we are used to.  It is important that we use this timing to set a strong intent for both personal and world change for the better.  Visualize with all your heart and soul, the most positive, outrageously wonderful environment for yourself, all the communities you are a part of, and the world as a whole.  Hold the intent that all will benefit.

While all this is going on in our solar system, it is important that we remember that we are at cause, not effect – we are creators, not victims, and therefore we are aware. This month more than any other in a very long time, presents the rare opportunity to clearly see into the matters of your heart.  You will find the words that have previously eluded you.  And this will result in being able to make sense of everything that has happened for at least the past two years.

January is asking you just one question.  Are you ready?

Are you ready to see everything that you were too scared to admit to before?  Are you ready to see the life that you are meant to live?

It is important that each of us is open and receptive to change this month, so that we can let ourselves move into where we need to be.  In other words, this is not the time to be resistant and dig your heals in!  Miracles will happen if you can stay open – but only if you let them in!

It is truly a time where you can feel and begin to use your wings.  So discover your wings, have courage, and begin to fly!

Sending you Light, Love and best wishes for a remarkable and miraculous January
